UPDATE:

Several weeks after this article was written and published, the “Next Best Job in the World” sponsors announced the contest had been suspended due to “unforeseen events.” As of May 5, 2009, no further information is available.- The Editors

Queensland, Australia’s best job in the world campaign was so wildly successful, it was only a matter of time before some enterprising tourism CEO rolled out Best Job in the World 2.0.

And that CEO is Dean Horvath, founder and president of Mason Horvath Elite Travel Experiences.

Like the Queensland job, the “NEXT Best Job in the World” offers one lucky winner six months of incredible memory-making. From the press release:

We are looking for an elite travel correspondent to travel the globe for six months, staying at the most exclusive and out of this world hotels and resorts, searching out and reporting on truly unique and mind-blowing experiences normally reserved for the rich and famous.

Imagine this: Enjoying a private candlelight dinner on the Great Wall of China; racing Ferraris through the twisting back roads of Tuscany; spending the afternoon picnicking in the middle of the Moroccan desert and then telling the world about it. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it!

And if you’re that somebody, you’ll not only receive a salary of $50,000 USD, you’ll also get to bring a companion along for the ride.

Unlike the Queensland gig, you don’t have to go through a lengthy application process. Just fill out a simple entry form here; a random drawing will pull finalists who will be flown to a secret location for interviews.

Can’t believe I saw the Queensland gig covered on CNN yesterday!! How much free publicity is THAT.

FYI, this contest has been postponed “due to unforeseen events last week in the Canadian tourism industry.”
