The Rocket Chinese language software may be a bit pricey at $99 but it is a whole lot cheaper than the Rosetta Stone Chinese language software. I also left China a couple of years ago and lost much of my conversational Chinese skills.

I have kept up my studies with a couple of different online software packages and Rocket Chinese is my favorite because they incorporate many different types of exercises in their programs.

Ah Julie - I get all misty and sentimental whenever you mention Fuzhou. That's where I first met my youngest daughter, nearly 8 years ago, now :)

Before travelling to Fuzhou, I bought a mini-Mandarin language programme, mostly for fun; I mean, Chinese - way too difficult to learn, right? Amazingly, it wasn't very hard at all! With only a total of 4 hours' listening/repeating, I made myself easily understood - asking directions, ordering beers, food... Even more amazingly, 8 years later, the 100 or so words and sentences still sit.

This post was a cool reminder to extend the vocab a bit - might just try Justin's programme. Thanks!
