Eva- Soccer is not very popular in Cuba. Baseball is the big sport, and boxing too. I’m not sure why soccer never caught on. Here’s a link to a pretty interesting documentary about Cuban boxing:

I had never heard of him either, until I lived in the UK! (Where, for the record, they are still very bitter about his “Hand of God” goal in the 86 (?) World Cup…)

Random question: Is soccer big in Cuba? I know it’s huge in pretty well every other Spanish-speaking country in the world, but I wasn’t sure if it gets ignored in favour of baseball, or if the two manage to co-exist on Castro’s island?
