Sailing. WWOOFing. Biking. Blogging.

Oh, and saving the world one epic sustainable voyage at a time.

Do those sound like your kind of extracurricular activities? Check out Couchsurfing’s latest initiative, the Race to the Green.

Beginning in the spring of ‘09, several crews of dedicated couch surfers/sailors will race across the Atlantic from North America to Europe. Upon arrival, they’ll make their way along Europe’s coastlines, leaving the ships to explore the countryside by bike and to volunteer on organic farms.

Wanted for the voyage: filmmakers, photographers, experienced sailors and WWOOFers, cooks, musicians, and more. It’s also possible to join in for shorter stints between cities.

Even if you haven’t got your sea legs, be sure to check out Couchsurfing if you haven’t already. It’s a fantastic organization that’s always coming up with new and sustainable ways to bring people together around the world.

Full race details are here.
